So...... we had a great day or overnight trip planned !!!! It's only about 2 hours to Yellowstone from the refuge. We checked ..... the park was "open" as were the roads. So... off we went on a fun adventure !!!
Our 1st cut thru road was closed..... due to ... guess what ???? OK... so now what ?????
We decided to just venture north into Montana..... it got colder n colder as we crossed over the continental divide.
But we saw beautiful country.... with cascading streams....
folks were fly-fishing...... and what was really "cool" ....
most of the lakes were totally frozen over.....
and families were ice-fishing, complete with lawn chairs, dogs, kids & ice drillers !!
On we continued thru Virginia City (old mining town) and after about 5 hours of road trip..... we finally made it to the west entrance of Yellowstone
where we would begin our next journey !!!! We planned to see Old Faithful, check out the visitor centers, drive thru the park and make our way down to the Grand Tetons...... and Jackson, WY to spend the night.
WELL GUESS WHAT ???? I don't have any more photos to show you....... the park was CLOSED.... just like our cut thru road !!!!!! Sudden snowfall shut it down !!!!! All was not lost however...... it was a great day trip and it only took us 1hr and 45 min to get back...... we took another of BV's "short-cuts"....... that wasn't closed !!!!! We'll go back.......
