Rocky Mountains

We actually drove by a section of the Rockies today.... on the way to Yellowstone NP and the Grand Tetons !! Our cut-thru was closed due to snow, so we drove from the refuge into Montana, down to Virginia City and over to Yellowstone.... only a 200 mile shortcut !!!! Still lots of snow on the ground, temps ranged from 19 to 51 degrees. Had only ONE minor issue.... even tho everything we read & heard said Yellowstone was OPEN...... NOT !!! Got there and the entrance was still snowed in. Only cyclists were being allowed entry. Oh well, it was a great drive.... and when the shortcut is open.... it's only an hour and 45 minutes away !! So, we'll go back.

Happy Easter - Sunny Skies and 25 degrees

Happy Easter Sunday to everyone..... have a glorious day and upcoming week !!

Yesterday we awoke to 3" of new snow & high winds and today it is clear, sunny skies and 25 degrees .... it's wonderful!! Just like in TX..... they say "if you don't like the current weather, just wait a bit and it will change". Expecting rain this afternoon then snow mid-week.

Still can't download pictures..... yesterday we went out to verify a "collared" white swan. When possible, refuges across the country will collar & band birds for future tracking. Wherever one is spotted it is logged & reported. The one yesterday came from Alaska and has been here a week.
The biologists get really excited about these reports..... we are also to log & flag the location of any spotted sage grouse and another bird .....(I forgot the name already) .......

Note: while this is a remote location...... our satellite works and on-site we have available for our use.... laundry facilities, a full kitchen, showers, free weights & a cross country trainer !!!
