Catch up.....

So... ok.... catching up on more of our adventures before getting here to Creede..... I've not posted some sidetrips since it's soooo hard to get on the internet here ! Leaving Idaho (first of June) our trip took us thru Moab, UT. WOW.... great recreation area with Colorado River, rafting, tubing, golfing, hiking and extreme off road/4x4/ATV riding. The campgrounds were full and everyone (but us) had OHVs. It was also our first WARM weather !!! We golfed at the local course - beautiful - it was built among the canyons, cliffs & red rocks of the area.

We also took time to go to Arch's National Park...... an expansive array of mountain carvings, arch's, cliffs n peaks..... very, very desert.... but worth the time !

Trip to Crested Butte

We like to scope out different areas around our volunteer location..... we saw a poster about a Bluegrass Festival in Crested Butte..... so I got online for details. Found a "do you want to volunteer" at the festival link and..... yep... signed us up to volunteer on Friday which then got us in free for the entire weekend !

The drive was awesome.... starting with several major mountain passes.... and temperatures dropping to the low 40s ! We followed lots of streams & rivers, canyons & thru some desert areas until reaching the resort and our B&B nestled in the mountains >>>>>>

What a great place..... very family oriented, bicycles were EVERWHERE & the main transportation along with public bus service, a cool mixture of hippy-throwback-retirees-ski bums turned mtn bikers-tourists and locals. Flowers everywhere, unique bench's and cool ways to use old stuff...

During summer, the slopes turn into cycling, mtn biking and hiking trails.....no matter the skill level or disability.... folks were loaded and on up the mtn they went !

As for the music festival ??? Our volunteer assignment was outside, in the VIP hospitality tent .... right next to the main stage.... how cool was that !!!! We set up, maintained the food, cleaned, checked IDs (BV the boucer)>>>> We had front row seats each day, good music, snacks and well known bands including Ralph Stanley. We did have about half hour of puring down rain.... but we all donned raingear and waited it out. Sure enough...... it cleared up & sunny. Since we had an early work shift the next morning, we left halfway thru the last band, drove to Gunnison for groceries and as darkness fell, we scared up deer & elk, saw a gorgeous sunset & wound our way safely back thru the mountains to Creede.
