For Sunday's races -no rain, fast cars and I was prepared... earplugs ! See the green things ?

We spent all day at the track moving from one end to the other, high seats overlooking the track then sitting down toward the fence. Not only was there great racing, we saw all kinds of interesting sights - in Texas I'm sure the cart would be in a joke starting with "you'd know you were a redneck if..."

Afterwards we actually went out and had a "real" meal !! That night the heavy rains & storms came back ... sleeping was a bit difficult ! On Monday it was still raining, the truck races were again postponed, so we decided to leave and head north. Kept raining all the way thru to Iowa.

Stopped at a Riverboat Casino in Council Bluffs to relax, but again... not a winner ! We found a nice KOA for the night, got TV hooked up and ate our free meal from the Casino ! Tomorrw we will get to our final destination and start a new adventure. Thanks for sharing this part of our journey with us ... we're on to the next phase !!

Saturday April 25......

Two tickets into Kansas Speedway for whole weekend, bought in parking lot = less than a single entry ticket; cheese, salamai, crackers & BVs homemade brownies for lunch = saved us a bunch at the track; avoiding a tornado after the race.... PRICELESS !

Just another day for us ! Spent the entire day at the track watching very fast & really loud Indy cars race and the NASCAR trucks until rain red-flagged the trucks and we headed back to the trailer around 5pm. Ran thru a monster storm with rain, hail and no sight distance..... got back and found out we just missed a tornado that struck just south of us on a parallel road ! Those of you praying we hve a safe trip... well it's working !!! Thank you, keep it up !! The storms are all around us... so far, we're soooo safe!

Tomorrow we hope to go back out to the track (yea gluttons for loud punishment) for the big Indy race, depends on weather. The truck race is postponed until Monday - the day we leave, but if weather permits, we have enough time to go finish that race then start to SD.

We've been eating out of our trailer refrig & freezer the entire trip, have been promising ourselves a good meal out..... but even tonight, because of the storms we came back and made eggs, bacon, potatoes & toast !!

Fri April 24 - What a day we had today !! Went out to the Kansas Speedway "just to check it out"... thought we'd find lots going on, but due to economic issues - nothing outside to look at. But we did "pick up" some race tickets (from a season ticket holder) which got us into the practice session for the trucks. These will now get us into all the Indy Car and Truck Races over the weekend !! We stayed there a few hours, then drove toKauffmann Field in Kansas City, MO) to see the Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 6 - 1. Good game that had it all: home runs, wild pitchs, and best of all we hit the $1 night for hotdogs, soda and peanuts !! We're a cheap date !!
